On Monday room 14 went to the hall for a taste of SAMOA! I felt so excited, we had to get in to 5 groups of 4 then we got to go to the stations of of Samoa. The people that was in my group was Fifita, Sifa, Asif and Zavier. The station that my group went to was the cup of Koko. I was so excited to taste the drink that they made.I felt a little bit nervous about tasting their drink I've never tasted their type of koko before. The people that was at the cup of koko station was Mamere and Sili , they helped my group make the cup of koko. After we made the cup of koko we got to taste it.Time for taste test I got really excited in the same time I was really nervous. It smelled and tasted like I was in hot chocolate land, the rivers were mad out of melted chocolate and the grass was hard chocolate I just felt so relaxed in my day dream, but we had to move on to the next station we the rang the bell.
Yaaaaay!! Time to see Samoans type of jewellery. It looks AMAZING! Like I've never seen it before. The children that was at the jewellery station was Harriet and Sharona. We learnt that Samoan jewellery is made out of coconut and their bags are made out of flaxes.Next station
The children that was at that station was Jerome and sudanie. They were very helpful as you can see sudanie is showing us some of their bags from Samoa. They said that the bags were made out of flax's. I never knew that they were made out of flax's. Also Sudanie told me that they use coconuts to drink through. First they eat the coconut inside then they clean it then after that I think the carve it and make it shiny on the outside. It's very cool.
I really had fun at the taste of Samoa I have learned a lot of new stuff about Samoa. I just really want to thank you all of the Samoans at May Road School who sorted these stations out also to all of the parents and teachers who helped the children, and also sorted this whole Samoan language week!!
I have had a wonderful week with all you Samoans!!
